I believe the general consensus for 1-atm subs is *not*
to use Lexan, but instead to use plexiglas. More specifically,
"Acrylic G".
It is generally agreed that Lexan is stronger, but there is
comparatively little research data done on using Lexan as
viewports for submarines (1-atm).

comprehensive analysis of the subject.
Granted, you're talking about an ambient pressure sub here,
where large pressure differentials are not present, but large,
thin windows are present. So, Lexan *might* be an acceptable
choice in this case.
