You can TIG, but since you can get inside and out, it's not really necessary.
Grind a good bevel from both edges, on both sides. Fit them up so
you have a sixteenth to an eight inch gap between the mating hull parts.
Weld one pass around the interior. Next, grind the root of the exterior
bevels until you hit the weld that you laid on from the interior.
Now just keep laying on weld passes until you filled the the appropriate
height on both the interior and exterior.
Be careful with MIG though. It's real easy to get a cold joint,
especially at the start of a pass. Stick is slower and smokier, but
much more of a sure thing. TIG is great, but really slow.
