OK, but how do you want to evaluate that it is designed for XXX meters crush deep to know that you can use it safe within XXX / 2 or 3 ???
Nevertheless you need a fixpoint for all the relations.
Itīs quite extensive to calculate the external crush pressure of a hull with a exactness of lets say 10 percent.
( all the formulars gives your more or less a good estimation for the basic design but a real sub "hurts" the theoretical assumptions manytimes..)
Itīs so much easier to DO it !!
Furthermore a test chamber allows not only highly extensive crush test but also "simple" test of sealing or tank blows or something like this ...
