Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Fw: sub shop remodeling
Couldn't find a picture, but here's a little
writeup I came across:
Las Vegas also is home to entertainment-oriented shopping malls, such as the
Fashion Show Mall and Showcase Mall on the Strip. The Fashion Show Mall is
undergoing a major expansion that will add three new department stores,
Nordstrom, Bloomingdale's and Lord & Taylor, and a canopy "cloud" one and a
half times the size of a football field. The mall features specialty shops,
as well as Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Macy's, Bullock's, Dillards,
and several restaurants, including the landmark bright yellow Dive!, shaped
like a submarine
Dive!
Fashion Show Mall
(702) 369-DIVE (3483)
This is Planet Hollywood in a submarine. A sign at the entrance explains
things: "Dive! started because I was hungry." That's Steven Spielberg
talking. Yep, E.T.'s mentor is now in the food business. And you knew it
would work, because this guy is a winner. Dive! (that exclamation point is
everywhere) is no dive. It's a squeaky-clean, shiny, and fun concept
restaurant. The exterior of the restaurant is one big, colorful submarine
with a wall of water continuously soaking the ship. Once inside there are
portholes and peepholes everywhere and a continual pinging sound which leads
you to think you're descending to the depths of the sea. Fish swim around
the room courtesy of an overhead track. A horn lets out a low moan. Time to
order. Apparently, chez Spielberg loves sandwiches, so he and some of his
pals decided to try and elevate this humble repast to a gourmet experience.
You have ten different "subs" to choose from at Dive!, along with salads,
burgers and pastas. Two Dive! starters are knockouts: the fries and the
carrot chips. They come with an assortment of dipping sauces (pesto,
barbeque and cajun mayonnaise, to name a few) and are finger-lickin' good.
The desserts are delish. You can walk out with lots of Dive! Gear, too,
t-shirts and baseball caps and flight jackets (shouldn't they be Dive!
jackets here?). It's all great fun. Now really, would you expect anything
less from Spielberg & Co.? Lunch and dinner.

Thought about asking my dear wife to take some pics, but the
poor thing is holding down 3 jobs. Starts at 5:30am comes
home at 12:30am. She needs her sleep. Plus, I took the cameras
with me including the digital.
