Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Convention update, 01 Mar 2002
Hi Herve,
Below are some guildlines. If you still unsure then tell me the sub with
pics, web pointers, what ever and I can decide on a case by case basis.
For the most part we are open to all submersibles except the the high
end scientific subs.
The mission of PSUBS is:
To promote and encourage the discussion, design,
construction, certification, ownership and use of
Personal Submersibles.
A sub does not have to be built by an individual. Just simple enough to
be conceivably built by an individual. A titanium forged hull would
be outside that definition. Steel, aluminum, fiberglass, plywood are fine.
Any submersible that can be conceivably owned by an individual is fair
game too. I think a multi million dollar submersible would push the envelope
a too far. As much as I would love to see Alvin in operatation it is simply
out of the personal submersible class. Half a million dollars is still a
stretch but lets use that as the upper limit. Any submersible that
is built by a company and can be purchased for under $500,000 for personal
use is fair game.
One big rule, all subs have to have passed their manned tests before being
allowed to come. Please no maiden dives. Make sure it works before you
bring it.
Regards,
Ray
