They're almost 2feet in height and over a foot in diameter
at the top usually white with the distinct odor of pickles.
They come with lids that snap on tight. Some hardware
stores sell them as paint buckets [ sans lids ] Check the
back alleys of restaurants, I sometimes find them stacked
near the trash bin.

You took the words right out of my mouth. Yes! If you
shape the bundles and then inject them with expandable
foam they tend to retain any shape after curing. You can even
do a little cutting and sanding to customize it. I've thought
about using the smaller diameter cpvc, injected with foam,
as planking over mold-frame instead of wood as a base
before fiberglassing.
