Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Underwater Anchor System
The anchor locker should be free-flooding external to the hull. Only a
water-tight sealed motor, anchor, and anchorline are contained in this
void and electrically controlled with just the wiring being the item
from inside to outside the hull.
I would recommend a mushroom anchor which molds to the exterior of the
hull so debris doesn't get tangles up in it. Incidently, I would use a
nylon line, not chain. I would recommend a release control in case it
gets caught in rocks, etc. This way, you won't be anchored underwater
with no way to surface. Perhaps the easiest would be to have an extra
long anchorline which pays out only say 100' but if it is let out 150',
it naturally comes off the spool. This way, no knots, connectors, etc.
are used. Anchors are cheap and nylon line is too. Lose it, no problem,
get a new one.
