Kudos to the photog too.  Were you bowriding for the closeups?  ;-)

One way to get the quality where needed is to crop the photo, show only the "good parts" at
300dpi, and reduce the full image.  Reducing to 50% in each direction cuts 75% of the total
pixels, hence about the same amount of file size.  Reducing to 1/3 (=100dpi) makes 1/9 the area,
file size.  Photos are sometimes "pretty good" as small as 50 dpi - you do the math, though.
