The graphic should quickly and clearly identify the subject matter so even
the uninitiated will know what it is at a glance.

The new one is TOO abstract. My first reaction was to wonder if it there
wasn't a mistake on the webpage.

How about a side (or 3/4 front) view of the PERRY CUBMARINE?  Nice design;
lots of portholes, (so it doesn't look military); widely recognized as a
personal submersible by a lot of people, because it was around for a long
time; no longer in production, so it's not like PSUBS would be favoring
anyone still in business over anyone else; and could be rendered in ink-jet
transfer, silk screen, or embroider.

I'd dump the color green though. The combination of a dark blue background,
and yellow (or bright gold) already has a nautical connotation.

A bright yellow (or bright gold) PERRY CUBMARINE on a dark blue t-shirt,
hat, or bumper sticker would look good. The words would look good in that
color, too; or maybe red.
