Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] I NEED A SPEAKER!
Pat,
This post reminds me that I have to put something similar together in the next month; I need a
speaker to put some "sonar" sounds in the water on the Torsk next month.
My plan "A" is to put a cheap Radio Shack speaker horn into a plastic jar and fill it with mineral
oil or something similar and seal the top on and just let the plastic flex a little for compensation.
The oil should transmit the sound real well into the water and with the sealed horn all the sound
will come out of the front of the horn (with a cone type speaker, the sound off of the front and
back tend to cancel out). If the horn stands up to this for awhile, I'll go to the next step and use
the 100 watt University horn I've been saving for this and really put out a ping (or voice).
I'll let you know how it works.

sound effects like that "turbine whine" the Disney NAUTILUS made in LEAGUES, and such.
