Hi Vance,
Actually this is being used to ventilate preemie babies in
hospital trials right now. They use a partial liquid ventilation so a
lower inflation pressure can be used on the traditional ventilator to keep
the lungs open, thus alleviating trauma to the fine tissues. This has the
effect of reducing the incidence of asthma among preemies later in life,
among other things. I think they are in phase 3 clinical trials.
Do a search on partial liquid ventilation and you'll find 'em.
