Craig, you have misquoted me to serve you own ends, what I said was:
"If you value your life, I advise not to do it this way but to rethink some
more safety in your design. The motivation for me writing this is concern
that you may start a project which not only could disappoint but be life
threatening."

Which is exacly what I'm refering to, Karl.
You are concerned, but so what? I'm not in favor of trying to save people from
themselves, because among other things it stifles initiative. It is a
neurosis (often labeled co-dependance) to blur the distinction between yourself
and others, and what I detect is that somehow you are offended that I would
take such a "risk". The reason I discount such attitudes is that 1) I'm not
you, and 2) it is insulting, to say the least, when you assume that I need you
to be afraid for me.
There is nasty tendency, exemplified in my mind at least, by places like New
Zealand, to equate "lowest common denominator" politcs with "wisdom". If
*some* people can't do something safely, then *no one* should be allowed to.
In other words, we're all guilty of stupidity until proven innocent. And
there's fat chance of that- especially with folks who derive their self-esteem
from self-fulfilling prophesies.
Sorry. I won't pretend to think that is the work of intelligent minds.

What more imput on the 'propane aspect' do you need? Many of us feel the
propane aspect unsafe and I can't think of a way to make it safer and
neither does, it seems, anyone else, not that the dicussion should end
there. It has absolutely nothing to do with being "scared"
*************************************************************************
Well, that says it all: you "feel" that propane is unsafe. But you're not
scared. Right.
****************************************************************************
You have not convinced me that you have any ideas that could make propane
safe and certainly not in respect to ballast. It seems to me (unless you or
anyone can convice me otherwise ), that there will be an unexceptable level
of risk, no matter what kind of expert you proclaim to be with gases.
However your acceptable level of risk might differ from mine it seems. I've
sailed single handed across thousands of ocean miles, to me that is
acceptable, to date, propane and subs mixed are not!
********************************************************************
Aha! "Not invented here" raises it's head. Or is that "We've always done it
this way"?
**********************************************************************
I was not going to respond to you but if you wish to imply I am a
"socialist" or "addicted to social approval" and then hide behind naming
your state as though a badge, you not only embarrass your fellow country
man but validate my suspicion that you are "simply ignorant" If you prefer
non-"nanny" like comments then see if this fits. Your propane-submarine
ideas are narrow, potentially unsafe and ill-conceived. But I do like your
inventiveness and thinking 'outside the box.'
Regards, Karl.
***************************************************
Well, Karl, since I haven't *finished* conceiving my ideas, I think your
judgement is premature. And I'm not sure how my ideas can be both "narrow" and
"outside the box". But I'm sure your intellectual environment makes it
possible to think two things at once....in fact, I'm sure it demands it.
Can we get back to technical discussions?
