Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] ScubaSub 300

Tom,

I never heard of a ScubaSub 300 but are you referring to the SportSub?
It is manufactured by International Venture Craft. Their website is:
http://WWW.Ivccorp.com/ where you may view photos. They have a model II
and III corresponding to 2-person or 3-person. They run about $35k
without a trailer.

There is one on eBay right now. Go to:
http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=479016850 or
simply read the ad below.

You are bidding on a Two-Person Submarine: ORIGINALLY USED IN THE MAKING
OF THE MOVIE "HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER." This craft allows you to cruise
underwater at up to 4 knots without cumbersome diving equipment. The
cockpit can be easily entered by swimming into the opening in the back
of the hull. Once inside, passengers sit in a fold-out seat and their
bodies from the waist up are enclosed in the air-tight cabin. Air
pressure inside the cabin matches the water pressure outside to keep
water from entering. The submarine's three front LexanŽ flat windows
allow for easy visual navigation, while the high-intensity 50-watt
headlight casts a beam up to 50 feet (depending on water conditions).
Air for breathing and cabin pressure is provided by regulators connected
to two 80-cubic-foot capacity scuba tanks (included) and a reserve air
supply from one 80-cubic-foot tank (included). Air-flow meter regulates
a continuous flow of air into the cockpit while CO2 is bled off.
Electronic buoyancy control (EBC) system maintains the sub's "neutral
buoyancy" so that the sub stays at the depth chosen. Manipulated by
levers on the dashboard, two battery-powered electric motors (each with
70 pounds of thrust), control speed and depth, while the thrust
differential controls direction. Dashboard instrument panel includes:
pressure gauges for both primary and reserve air systems; a volt meter
indicating charge remaining in batteries; compass; and depth gauge
information. The sub has a maximum depth of 130 feet. Trailer and
derrick included. Constructed of compression-proof 3/8-inch thick
fiberglass. The motors' rechargeable 12-volt battery (included) operates
for 4-8 hours. 5' H x 6' W x 10' L. (1,250 lbs.) Buyer is responsible
for actual shipping costs and arrangements. All items must be paid for
within 10 days of auction end.

If you have any questions about this item, please feel free to contact
us. The photo may be viewed here: http://members.aol.com/gimerese/sub

This one is nice as it has the best trailer and launching system I have
seen yet. Check it out but OUCH, it's expensive!

Good luck.
