Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Oil Compensation of Trolling Motors
Thanks Pat,
I would be very interested in the information. Are you going to use the
standard MK controller?
Incidentally, I just had something interesting happen to my subs batteries. I
had, inadvertently discharged the batteries (Lead acid sealed, AGM, Concord
Lifeline group 27). I put them on a constant current charge at 1 ampere which
gave me a terminal voltage of about 43.5 volts. I ventilate the battery
compartment during charging but at a slow rate. The batteries got quite warm.
I was under the impression that charging the batteries when discharged was
endothermic. As far as I can tell no degradation occurred and I am now doing
an equalization charge. My battery compartment is surrounded by the home made
syntactic foam which is an insulator.
Do you perform equalization charges?
Best wishes,
Ken Martindale

Hi Ken,
There's quite a bit of new information on this subject you might find
valuable. I wouldn't want it to get lost in all the other stuff on the
website, so I'll contact you offline sometime in the next couple days.
Very best regards,
