GIVING CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE:
I know I joke around a lot, but this time I am as serious as open-heart
surgery when I say that what Dale and Carsten are doing is nothing less than
inspiring.
>From the pictures in the gallery, what becomes obvious is the amazing
progress Dale has made with his K-sub over just the past four months;
clearly, this man is working harder than any twenty beavers, and the quality
of his work is excellent. I'm not an expert on K-subs, but from where I
stand, if I were going to illustrate a book about how they are built from
plans, Dale's boat would be a fine example.
And Carsten's CSSX1 is not only one of the most ambitious homebuilt
submarine projects I think I've ever seen, what's more impressive than that
is the speed with which it's becoming a reality. For those of you who have
been wondering how unique homebuilt subs are achieved in steel, here's a
perfect example of the process from design, to scale model, to wooden
mockups and templates, to actual steel parts which comprise a submarine.
Truly excellent in all respects!
Obviously, I'm excited by what I've just seen, and I hope the rest of you
are, too. In my own humble opinion, what Carsten and Dale are doing
represents the best of what PSUBS is all about.
I think somewhere along the line I lost some of the "drive" that compells us
to actually build the projects we often only dream about. When I see what
these two guys are doing, I feel a renewed motivation to get hot in the
shop!
Gentlemen, I salute you both, and wish you continued success with your
projects!
Very best regards,
Pat
