Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Electric motors

Anthony, Dennis:
The motors we have been discussing for modification are trolling motors; and
more specifically, Minn Kota brand trolling motors. A good link that
provides exploded views of these motors is:
http://www.northlandmarine.com/MinnKotaQuickRef.htm
If you would rather create a potentially superior thruster from scratch, you
need to look into getting a powerful permanent magnet brushless DC motor,
controller and all else. For good examples of these with drawings, look at:
http://www.nidlink.com/~glblitnpwr/EVPARTS2.html If you should choose this
path, it will require much more fabrication on your part, but will be well
worth the effort.
I have a paper in progress that will reveal the more important information I
have gathered together about electrical propulsion for our purposes, so stay
tuned.
TTYL,
Big Dave
