A Russian Security Police (FSB) officer has been charged for organising
stealing of submarine air filtration cartridges in the Northern Fleet.
The group headed by the FSB officer was after filtration powder that
contains the precious metal palladium. All in all, 135 cartridges were
stolen, Russian daily Kommersant reported. Last year, thieves disabled a
nuclear submarine in Russia's Northern Fleet Gadzhievo base. The Akula
class submarine was stripped of the filtration powder as well.

Thieves disabled a nuclear submarine in Russia's Northern Fleet Gadzhievo
base,
Kommersant Daily reported. The Akula class submarine was stripped of a
filtration powder used to clean air inside the compartment when a
submarine is submerged. The thieves, who emptied 59 filtration cartridges
of the powder, were after the precious metal palladium. The swap was
discovered by a newly-appointed officer, who decided to check the
cartridges.
