RE: [PSUBS-MAILIST] racing
Hey folks,
I just got back from the Human Powered Submarine 2000 contest. We managed
to just squeak through with a victory in our class (two person propeller
driven) beating out the next team by just over 0.1 knots. It was a huge
victory for us and for our program. We were certainly not expecting it
since we were all rookies and most of the team are second year students. I
would once again like to thank all of those who helped out with advice. I
will post some pictures as soon as I get them developed and figure out how.
(I think I even got one for you Suds ;) ) There were some pretty incredible
designs there and some of the pictures should be well worth looking at.
BTW Why didn't anyone tell me a fan blade wouldn't make a good propeller?
On our third, run the thing crumpled like it was made of tin foil. I'll
include a picture of that too for all those of you who might think that
testing is for lab rats. It's pretty cool! Fortunately, we had an
alternate prop that was much sturdier.
