[PSUBS-MAILIST] Autonomous Robot Submarine Competition
Hello!
Just a quick note to both present myself to the mailing list and note
the existence of the annual "International Autonomous Underwater
Vehicle Competition" in which our university is a participant in.
My name is Ricky Ng-Adam and I'm a captain for a student club here at
École de Technologie Supérieure in Montréal, Canada.
Our student club is dedicated in designing and building a robot sub for
an inter-university (and high school!) contest to find a marker with
sound/light beacon underwater.
More info on the competition:

(I know it's in french but just click on the links to get to the
pictures index ;-)).
Althought we lost badly this year with our first quick-and-dirty
prototype, we're ramping up for a very good design in 2001 and I'll be
looking closely at the excellent information provided by "Personal
Submersible" (both mailing list archives and web site).
We're using CATIA for the design, possibly either composite or
polycarbonate for the hull with an all-custom electronics based on
micro-controllers (and an on-board PC with Linux) for the sub
intelligence.
We're especially confident of winning next year since ETS as a winning
history: ETS is the world record holder for single and biplace
human-powered submarine.
I'd appreciate any comments you have on the competition or design of an
AUV sub. Specifically, if anyone is from Canada, I'd like to hear about
them... Especially if they can sponsor us!
As we are the only international team as of now, we'd also like to hear
about interested university students, as we would like to organize a
robot sub local exhibition in Canada.
Thanks,
=====
