When changing direction, my speed and velocity (scalar quantity) will 
change. I will actually deccelerate, allowing me some geeee time. This is 
assuming my path is parallel to the bottom before I make the change. Also, I 
don't intend running full-out all of the time, unless Nemo is behind me with 
his underwater pontiac. I tend to like to stop and smell the roses....Well, 
you know what I mean. As far a the low flying grouper, no problem. I intend 
on using anti-lock brakes :}
