"Thanks for the concern..but I have no intention of building a sub that
would go more then 4feet underwater. I am going to build the "AQUASUB II"
which may not be a "REAL" sub anyway."
Yep. I've always thought shallow was cool: lots of beautiful sights to see,
and the best underwater visibilities are usually in shallow water. Have you
guys ever seen a semi-submersible catamaran called the SCUBACAT? I saw it
featured a few years back on an Aussie TV show (cable TV) called BEYOND
2000. The inventer made two pontoon hulls; an enclosed Nissan automobile
engine powered a squirt drive; had a bubble-pod in the center; and the
framework was articulated to move via the kind of hydraulic system that
operates a backhoe. This boat could cruise along on the surface with the
everything above water; then the hydraulic system enabled the boat to
reconfigure to where the pod and pilot were submerged at a few feet depth
while the cat hulls and engine remained topside. Had a forced air system
that blew air from the surface through the pod and back up again:
continually refershening the atmosphere. I wondered about how well he could
see and avoid surface traffic; but then, that's a two-way street, and he
seemed to be doing pretty well with it. He said he wanted to build larger,
tourist carrying versions; but that was the last I heard of it.
Good luck with your project!
