This is the same method used to "beach" flying-boat
aircraft that are not amphibious. [The largest ever being
the Hughes H-1 "Spruce Goose"]. Removeable wheels
allow the airplane to be rolled into and out of the water.
However, these wheels are not capable of being used
as landing gear for takeoff or landing on a paved runway.
