[PSUBS-MAILIST] Bushnell's Turtle, revisited.

I just made some changes to the hull form. I made the shape conform
to a drawing I found on line. This drawing has the area fo the deck and
of the keel . . . exactly the same. The length and beam remain
different,
however. So what we are left with is a barrel that is not quite round,
and it's of equal size on the top and bottm.

This gives me a displacement (without the conning tower) of 14,200
pounds! What's the density of granite? He had a lot of granite nearby
to use as ballast, but I can't imagine a seven-ton barrel.

Something must be wrong with the size that's been reported. I'll work
up the numbers for the Hunley and report.
