My own two cents --
In many cases I believe people act aggressively from motivations of fear, fear
of being gotten the better of in one way or another.
So... here we have these guys with mere surface vessels having to contend
emotionally with a guy launching a sub.
What must run through their minds?
''Wow, that guy has something I don't have! My girlfriend/wife might be
impressed and think I'm not so great. Other people won't notice me launching my
bright red jet ski (or other status symbol) because this guy has just outclassed
me in a way I never expected.''
Yes! You've intimidated the bejeezus out of them. No wonder they strike out
through rude behavior, it's their only recourse. So what if they dash off
leaving a wake that rocks every vessel around for five minutes, they can't
submerge. What frustration! After all what good is having a watercraft that
doesn't get noticed? It's like pulling up to a light in your '57 Chevy, revving
up your engine - then suddenly, the guy who pulls up next to you is in a Sherman
tank and says' "You can outrun my treads, but not my 50 mm!"
And what about Pat Regan - combine the wonder of launching a sub at all with
launching something right out of modern mythology. Pat - you be careful.
There's a lot of P-Sub envy out there.
