Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] psubs club sub

Some more interesting e-mail ! All contain good points to ponder.
I believe that each individual in our small group have various
talents that if properly pooled could be used to come up with a winning
design for a psub. Now what is the definition of a winning design ? This is
the kicker that needs to be defined. Here are some examples that come to
mind:
Safe
Simple
Inexpensive
Proven good performance
Type category (wet,dry,1 2 or 3 man)

These criteria will need further breakdown but once selected by a group
debate & vote could be the basis for white papers to be produced on psub
components.
Lets say that the psubs group organizes a white paper schedule
that allows time for research, writing, submission, debating & voting on
components. By the end of this year maybe we could have group accepted design
on view ports, hatches, drives, etc.
If we are all building psubs componets to the same design then a
lot of doors are open to sharing more info. Like where is the best place to
buy material, what is the best method of fabrication, bartering, etc.
France has one of the best nuclear power generation programs in
the world. They were a little late getting into nuclear power as compared to
the States, Canada & Britain but they used this lag to their advantage. They
looked all over the world for the best performing components,
reactors, turbines, generators, etc and put together a "proven" hybrid design.
Then "every" plant they built were ALL identical. A worker is trained in a
central training center a can go to any plant where the procedures, layout
and parts are all identical. This has made fools out of the American,
Canadian & British nuclear utilitys where every plant is different. In Canada
it was the misguided thought that we can build the next nuclear plant
"better" that results in higher operational costs and a host of other
difficulties.
      So , any thoughts ?
