I?m using an OM connector to terminate the ends of my ROV tether. I have limited resin casting experience, and I?ve had some trouble sourcing the 5136 Resin Primer Subconn recommends and I was hoping someone might?ve used an alternative. - Thanks, Sean Lange -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... It's probably a topic we should revive at a future conference. Is this the product you are looking for ? When I made my electrical penetrators ( 20 years ago) I don't believe this product was available . The advice given to me at the time by some industry professionals was to clean all the components to be cast or over molded with acetone . I've ordered the Scotchcast 2131B resin from Digikey, and it looks like you can order the primer from them too. It's a bit expensive though (~$220 per can), and I'm not sure how much you'll need it... At Saildrone we just use the 2131B for potting cables, I don't think we use any primer, and it ends up being really tough stuff. But as Dan said, cleaning with acetone before potting would probably be good. The 2131B is kind of annoying since it comes in pouches of 7.5oz, and you can't really save it after you've cut open the pouch. So it's best to line up all your casts and do them all at once if you have a few to do. -justin On Fri, Jan 17, 2025 at 7:02?AM Daniel Lance via Personal_Submersibles < personal_submersibles at psubs.org> wrote: > Sean , > I did a quick Google search and found " 3M Scotchcast Electrical Primer > 5136N" .
