This sounds really good, Jon.

At this time I would give it a very strong likelihood that I would attend, either flying in or driving from Vancouver. If driving, I would not likely be bringing my SportSub, but I would certainly be available to provide surface support on land or scuba.  Notwithstanding the in water visibility issue, my personal date preference would be the second week of July or the first week of August.

Hello Psubbers,

An opportunity for a PSUBS expedition/convention in the May/June 2022 timeframe has been proposed by one of our members, Bernie Hellstrom.  In an effort to begin planning for this we'd like to get some feedback from the group.

Location:                 Lake Charlevoix, Charlevoix Michigan

Primary Purpose:    Submarine Diving Expedition

Primary Dive:         Keuka Shipwreck

Infrastructure:         Private marina with boat hoist, public boat launch, hotels, restaurants.

The primary dive target Keuka is a 130 foot long, 30 foot beam, barge that sits in 45 feet of water but with topsides only 17 feet below the surface.  It promises to be a good shallow water dive accessible to most PSUBS type submarines, even ambient models.

The infrastructure in Charlevoix looks very good with a private marina having boat hoist capabilities as well as a public boat launch for those that can launch/recover directly off their trailers.  Hotels, restaurants, and private house rentals are available.  It also looks like SCUBA and surface boat support will be feasible.  Duration will likely be 3-5 days with dive briefing/debriefing daily.  It looks like a good opportunity to get numerous vessels in the water for diving, photo ops, and testing.  We can even hold a public display like we have in the past.

To help in planning this, please respond to the following:

    1) Would you attend this event?

    2) Would you bring your submarine?

    3) Which dates would be best?  Would memorial day weekend be acceptable?
