What about empty dish soap containers. Fill them at the surface with water and at sample depth squeeze them to partially empty and create a vacuum to suck up your sample.

Okay fellow submarine nerds, I need an idea.  I need to find containers for taking samples off the bottom that when they are squeezed they open a lid.  Ideally I would grab each container from a rack and when I grab it the lid opens from the force of grabbing it.
