Hank.

I did exactly that.  Locked the hatch shut dead tight and welded the hinges
and brackets etc on with no leeway in the pin.  When it was done, the hatch
didn't close properly.  I don't know why.  I filed about 1mm off the hinge
holes and then it closed.  I don't seem to notice any play with the springs
on and the hatch doesn't leak.
