Am re-phrasing a question I asked a little while back.
   I am making my aluminium thruster housing in 3 sections, front & back with
a cylinder between them. I had wanted to weld the cylinder section to the front housing
but was advised I would get too much distortion. If I made a steel plug to fit inside
the cylinder & front section to stop it distorting during welding would this work?
It would be a big heat sink. I could press it out afterward if it became stuck in the
process.
