Another question for all you electrical
engineers out there.. On the website that is listed in the sources section on
the psubs page, there is a company that makes a small gyroscope..It seems to me
that this would be relatively simple to make some kind of a direction indicator,
similar to the gyro-compasses on airplanes..This paticular gyroscope only
measures rate of turn, but I am sure some fairly simple electronic wizardry
could be incorperated to have it indicate a direction, when you set it to a
known direction on the surface..This might be done by putting it inside a
electronic compass perhaps.. I called the company, and they offer the gyroscope
for $150.00 (US) very reasonable. This might be a inexpensive solution for
a gyro compass.. (aircraft ones are air operated generally, and the electric
ones are expensive, although if you might be able to find a reasonable one at a
aircraft wrecker place or something..)
Just an Idea, any comments, or smart types
that want to look into this for the rest of us...?????
