Alec's "Sub Sled Suggestion"
Thanks for your great sub sled suggestion Alec, but I think I'll pass on
your long but helpful idea. I hope to graduate passed your sub sled,
scooters, wet subs and directly to a semi high tech 2 person dry sub like
the one you have already constructed. With you already putting in your
batteries, it must be almost ready to launch. Please post some pictures of
your dry sub on this psubs site. Even if it's not painted, I'm sure all the
psubs members would really like to see what you've done now that it's almost
ready to go diving. I know I sure would.
I like the dry sub theory to stay out of as much cold water as I can. I've
dived and changed huge commercial fishing boat's bent props, old zincs,
cleaned out water inlet screens and transducers for friend's boats at their
docks just for the good in-water experience and even saved a dropped
outboard and a friend's set of keys his kid dropped overboard while we were
fishing. Thank God were were still on the hook.
Maybe a dry sub will get my wife to try something besides her love for water
skiiing. I took scooter diving tours in Hawaii and in Mexico for only a
couple hundred bucks. I tried night dives also but I kept seeing "big
teeth" just beyond the light's beam. I also liked having someone behind me.
I'm sure Al Secor can relate to his students on their first night dives.
Even the water "felt" differently to me.
Alec, please explain why you would think I should want to start with your
no-tech towed sub sled? Or were you just making a little fun?
Al Secor, I found your e-mail information very interesting and in no way any
sort of flame on wet subs at all, I know that, and I'm sure Jack, Al, Vance,
Jon and others did too. So, I don't know what's the big deal?
I hope Charles, Ginger and Jack weren't chased off. F. Phillips
(Mr. F.) ... if your parents named you Foster, what would you do?
