I don't vent the excess except to adjust trim in which case is done manually. 
 Otherwise a relief valve would lift and bubble excess--not a bad idea and 
exactly what HBOI does with the JSLs.  In their case, max depth of 1/2 mile 
works out to well over 1000 psi, more than the aluminum trim tanks need to 
worry about.  In my case, max of 160 psi plus pre-set of regulatos is well 
within the capabilities of my system so I just trim the boat and let it eat.
