RE: Re: Thru hull seals

Jolyon :

What are your small subs? Are they models for radio control that only go
to 30 feet deep, or are they underwater vehicles that go a hundred feet
deep or more with cable, etc., and somewhat 'serious' in nature?

If the former, I can direct you to some R/C submarine supply houses that
carry inexpensive solutions to your problems. If the latter, then I'll
let others here answer your questions.

Brian.

	Hi everybody,
I'm new to this but I've been experimenting with small, unmanned
submersibles
and I'm having trouble with through-hull seals. I'm wondering a
few things:

	1) Can I use a conventional stuffing box but pressurize the
lubricant inside
to keep the water out or is that bad idea?

	2) What are some good sources for stuffing boxes or seals for
this submarine
use that are on a relatively small scale(my boats are only 3 or
4 feet long?

	Thanks everybody,
