Good question, Steve, but I don't think there is any easy answer because
thrust is variable depending on things like the propeller. As a rough guide,
I think 30 lbs. of thrust is approximately equal to one horsepower... so 5 hp
should be about 150 lbs. thrust. If I'm wrong, we'll hear about it pretty
quickly with this group!
The Electrical Engineers among us could provide a formula for horsepower from
a motor determined by voltage and amperage, but that is a theoretical value
and probably not accurate for actual performance. Jump right in here,

I have the same question because I have a motor rated in horsepower, and I'm
curious what thrust I can expect. I asked Minn Kota to enlighten me, but
they never responded.
