Actually, you're probably right. I hadn't thought of that side of things.
Still, a bottle of champagne is not completely full, and I guarantee that
the compressed air (or CO2 or whatever it is) that's in there is at nowhere
near the water pressure on the outside.

In any case, it is still definitely the case that the smaller a pressure
hull is, the easier and cheaper it is to make it withstand high pressure.
