RE: flat hatch



Why does it need to be 60,000 psi?  At 36,000 fsw the ambient pressure is just slightly  over 16,000 psi. If your max depth is only 400 ft, all you need the hatch to withstand is at least 1.25 times the max depth rating of your sub. At 400 ft that number is about 223 psi, including the 1.25 factor. If you want to be in the safe side, a 500 psi hatch will be more than sufficient.
