Re:Hull integrity



Sean,
On a military vessel, the keel is joined to circular I-beams and
plates are welded to the I-beams.
Any machinery was bolted or welded to the I-beams, not the pressure
hull, hence no cause for alarm. They had thick rubber pads between the
machinery and the beam to account for vibration and noise underwater,
which is not a problem for us private-types. The only thing directly
welded to the pressure hull were the seawater valves and others like
that.
