Instead of building a hull, why not see you can find something that can be use as a
hull. I'm involved with a group who has decided to use a propane tank. It is 3/8 inch
thick and has the general shape used for a sub.

I have talked with a friend of mine that is a metal fabricator. He has mentioned that
pressure hulls that keep pressure in are different than pressure hulls that keep
pressure out. They are made differently and therefore react differently to external
pressures. A pressure hull that keeps pressure in is less prone to "out of round"
difficulties like the pressure hull that keeps pressure out. It is unknown what type
of stresses have been exerted on the "used" propane tank as well.  Be careful...
