No, I think the CO2 is chemically removed from the air by reacting with the
Soda lime in the scrubber.

That's why a rebreather system for diving doesn't give off any bubbles if
you don't change depth (or if you go down). I should have remembered that
before adding my two cents in yesterday... :-)

Fortunately, in a one-atmosphere sub, we don't have to deal with a lot of
other problems diving rebreathers have, like oxygen poisoning (you can
breathe pure O2 at one atmosphere, but don't try it at three...)
