I am also planning to start in 2000, also in the planning stage.  Thanks
for the good info about gel marine batteries.  Is anyone else planning on
using an engine for surface travel?  For the extra weight, it has as
benefits:  recharge batteries, fill air tanks en route, farther surface
travel (and the ability to be independent from a launch craft).  As
somebody said the other day, the idea is to get to the dive site fast,
then cruise around underwater as your mood dictates.
