In all seriousness, my interest in things underwater probably started with stories I used to hear from my grandfather, who had worked on a cable ship as a young man, I’m thinking probably around 1910 or so. When the cables came up on deck for maintenance, abyssal fish would sometimes be brought up with them, including some that exploded when the air in their VBT’s (aka swim bladders) exploded. Or at least that was how the stories went.
