In Snoopy’s case I used a thick plastic sheet. It’s an inch thick if I remember right, but could probably be a little less without any problem. It’ll never rot nor varnish, although it won’t work if you wanted to combine with antique brass gauges and go for the 20,000 Leagues look! Or how about aluminum diamond plate?
