Really nice! I would like to suggest a couple of ideas.
1) It looks like you have a flat bulkhead closing off the end
of each tank that faces the hull. If that is so, could you mount the tank a
little further from the hull, bolted from beneath, and avoid the strap
attachment method? The strap method is both leak-prone and a pain for
disassembly. At least in my experience, removing the tanks when they are
attached with a strap invariably leads to repainting part of the hull. Your sub
would end up a little longer, but I think would be much better if you could
could avoid the straps. You could bend a rectangular sheet to bridge the gap
between each MBT and the hull, put a couple of holes in it, and leave that space
free flooding.
2) Use that lip to bolt on a flat cover underneath, and put
large diameter pipe downward about a foot. You can easily attach the down pipe
with nothing but a hole saw and nylon bathtub drain fittings.
Both these ideas are part of the design for my next boat,
based on K-250 experiences.
