Emile and others,

I've uploaded my ExtendAir re-breather canister modification for 
submarine use on the web site.  You can access it via www.psubs.org ->

The total cost of the modification was about $15.00 (US) of which about 
$12 was the fan itself.  I think there are numerous ways to make this 
modification, and if I owned the canister I might have simply attached 
the fan directly to the canister inlet by removing the air hose adapter 
(it unscrews from the cap end).  However, this is a unit that Micropore 
sent me for prototyping and I need to return it to them intact so I 
couldn't make any permanent changes to the canister.

One nice thing about the adapter I came up with is that the fan can be 
rotated to whatever position makes sense inside the sub.  In any event, 
my modification should provide food-for-thought to others who might come 
up with a better solution.  If I can get Micropore to send me a 
cartridge, I might ask Alec to schedule another day in his sub with his 
daughter to test out this unit.
