Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Books

** what good books are there? For sub design.

This is a short list of my own favorite books:

complex to be covered in their book they give you some practicle advice
and rules of thumb.)

Theory of Submarine Design

Kormilitsin, Yury Nikolaevich; Khalizev, Oleg Anatolievich

Riviera Maritime Media, UK 2001

Where "Concepts In Submarine Design" got a little thin on details (for
example it provides a number of equations that are incomplete, or doesn't
explain all the variables properly), "Theory of Submarine Design" was able
to provide more complete equations.
Not so much a theoretical text as a step-by-step manual for designing
submarines. Extensively illustrated, wtih many design examples from the
real world. Translation quality is good, with only a few oddities that do
not obscure meaning (e.g. "lever" instead of "moment arm").
St. Petersburg State Maritime Technical University

ISBN 978-0954144609

340 pages

Jens Laland
