Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Sub as panoramic film platform
Hi Jim,
I think Deep Flight Challenger is still owned by Steve Fossett's
estate, which is in some sort of legal proceedings. I am interested
if you know of anything different. The dome is a parabolic or elliptical
dome (I think, from talking with one of the HOT engineers), I don't
know what the thickness is.
Ian.

Hi, Ian,
I'm not sure what Graham is doing with Deep Flight Challenger right
now. The last I knew it was sitting waiting for someone with enough money
to put it to work. The discussions of the last few days on acrylic
canopies/viewports make me wonder how Challenger or Cameron's proposed sub can
sustain 36,000 foot depths with that type of canopy. Fortunately my
challenges are much more modest.

Hi,
I read about that too, but it didn't mention
Australian engineers
in the one I read. I had assumed that he'd some
how purchased
Steve Fossett's unused sub or commissioned another one like
it.
The graphic with the article is definitely a deep fly sub.
Maybe
they've mistaken Graham Hawkes' accent for
Australian.
Cheers,
Ian.
