First nation manned in space , Russian, Yuri Gagarin 4/1961   - some hundreds Million USD
Second nation manned in space, USA,     Alan Shepard 5/1961  - some hundreds Million USD
Third nation manned in space , China,   Taylor Wang 1985      - some hundreds Million USD
Fourth nation manned in space, Denmark, Peter Madsen abt.2011 - below 70000 USD.. 

Not bad for a submariner.. 
Funny some weeks ago I dive with the Eurosub on Alan Shepard private aircraft(scuttled)in 45 feet depth.
