Alec, There is no need to feel as if you have let anyone down. Seeing your sub is high on my things to do list and will simply have to wait. Hello Friends, I spoke to Vance this morning, but wanted to offer an apology and explanation to those of you at the convention because I am unable, due to a last moment technical issue, to be there. I am more than aware that I was committed to taking several logistical items such as a projector and a battery for topside comms, which makes me even guiltier. Here's what's going on. I have a friend who volunteered to develop Snoopy's control electronics. It's what he does professionally, developing controls for Navy and commercial ships. He has been working heroically to complete the system by the convention deadline, to the point of sleeping 2 hours per night the last several days. Yesterday, he brought his stuff over in the expectation we were hitting the road for Florida after completing the job. However, we worked into the wee hours and still had dead thrusters at the end of it. This afternoon we finally identified what looks to be the last problem, which is a manufacturer's defect in a speed controller, and assuming the right component can be located in the morning, the sub should finally come alive. However, despite my friend's heroics we have obviously missed the boat for Florida. There are a lot of you down there that I wanted to take for a dive, now that Snoopy is a two person boat. But with Snoopy dead in the water, dragging her all the way down there wasn't going to help. Please accept my sincerest apologies, and if you have a chance to make it to the mid Atlantic area sometime, perhaps I can still invite you to a dive here. Have fun, and know I'm green with envy!
