Jens,   Very interesting !   I only found out about this ship plotter
because I was at a marine hardware store and the guy there was tracking the
Iranian ship preparing to run the Gaza blockade, he was watching the
situation unfold, at the last minute the Iranian ship turned off its
transponder.

Here is an alternative option for AIS that may be applicable for psub use:

The "ShipPlotter" software decodes the AIS digital signals from each ship
using the sound card in your PC. You need a suitable VHF band radio
receiver tuned to one of the two AIS channels. The program decodes the
